Myst returns to PC and Mac

Island in the mist

Cyan Inc. has certainly been busy lately - this month the first unused assets of their puzzle-based MMO game Myst Online: Uru Live were released, along with full playable prototype levels. Now, the Myst fandom has one more event to add to their agenda - a remastered and remastered version of Myst is coming to PC and Mac later this year.

This certainly isn't the first time Myst has gotten a remaster - Myst: Masterpiece Edition, realMyst:

Interactive 3D Edition, and realMyst:

Masterpiece Edition has all brought new gameplay and graphics updates to the PC puzzle classic. The next version of Myst, however, is a reworked version of the Oculus Quest 2020 port, with puzzle randomization and VR support added in this port.

Cyan Inc considers the next version of Myst to be its “final version” - it has been completely redone, without input from any other developer along the way. Myst's Oculus Edition was already the most user-friendly version of the game to date, with premium sound design and improved graphics adding to the immersive VR experience.

The Oculus Edition also picks up a feature of the beloved realMyst: Interactive 3D Edition with a gameplay overhaul - while the original Myst blazed paths through its mysterious world, realMyst added free-roaming. Now that the upcoming PC and Mac versions have the option to play the game without a VR headset, the best version of Myst is more accessible than ever.

Myst is slated for release on PC and Mac in the third quarter of this year, with possible releases on other consoles to be announced in the future. While the exact release date has yet to be announced, Cyan Inc. says it's "VERY soon". It is now available to add to your wishlist on Steam and GOG!
